Golden Delicious is a large cultivar identified with its yellow-green skin and very sweet taste. It is prone to bruising and shrivelling which requires extra care during transport and storage. Consumers prefer this variety for salads, apple sauce and apple oil. Today, Golden Delicious is grown in all temperate growing zones. It is a lucrative cultivar for growers because it is easy to grow and keeps well long after harvest. Flavours peak when the fruit is left to mature on the tree until the skin turns golden yellow.

Originated in Australia, Granny Smith is a favourite cultivar across the globe with its distinctive pale green colour. The medium-to-large sized and round shaped fruit is known for its crisp, juicy flesh. This variety has a tart and acidic yet mildly sweet flavour. Granny Smith has one of the highest antioxidant activity and phenol concentration among common cultivars.

Fuji apples can be identified with their attractive pinkish spots on a yellow-green background. The matte white flesh is dense, crisp and juicy. The seeds are clustered in the core. Fuji apples are sweet and refreshing (especially when chilled). Low in acid content, Fuji apples complement honey and citrus fruits to create a balanced sweet and tart flavour.

The fruit is semi-large, oblong-cylinder shaped and light cream in color. It can be stored in a cold storage facility for a long period of time. The skin color is pink on light yellow ground. It is a variety that is very suitable for long freights. As its fruit flesh texture is hard. It can be stored in cold storage conditions for about 4- 5 months without losing its properties.
