Our Sustainable Quality Approach

We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality apples possible. That's why we have developed a sustainable quality approach that includes the following five steps:

1. Working with orchards that we know the stories behind. We want to know where our apples come from and how they are grown. We only work with orchards that use sustainable farming practices and that treat their workers fairly.

2. Careful and accurate harvest. Our apples are hand-picked at the peak of ripeness. We use only the most experienced pickers, and we have strict quality control standards.

3. Storing products in professional cold storage facilities. Our apples are stored in state-of-the-art cold storage facilities. This ensures that they stay fresh and delicious until they are delivered to your door.

4. Packing the products with the right technology and workmanship according to the specifications requested by the customers. We use the latest technology and workmanship to pack our apples. We want to make sure that they arrive at your door in perfect condition.

MAP OF TURKISH APPLE AND OUR HOME TOWN "KARAMAN"

The apple production for Turkey in Marketing Year (MY) 2021/22 was 4.28 million metric tons (MMT)
Our hometown Karaman is known for its delicious apples. The apples grown in Karaman are some of the best in the world, thanks to the region's ideal climate and soil conditions. Karaman apples are known for their sweet taste, firm texture, and most important with their long shelf life.
There are many different varieties of apples grown in Karaman, including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala, Fuji, and Granny Smith and Pink Lady.
There are approximately 1300 apple producers in Karaman with more than 12 million apple trees. Karaman is the first in the number of trees and the second in production. Last year the yield is between 480 thousand and 500 thousand tons. The number of apple producers producing more than 100 decares in our city is 150, between 50 and 100 decares is around 100, and less than 50 decares is around 1050.

GALA

Gala apples come in different colours depending on their maturity. Gala is known for its thin skin which can bear vertical, pinkish-red stripes on predominantly yellow-orange background. The creamy-yellow flesh is crunchy and has a mildly sweet taste. There are several mutations of Gala including the popular Scarlett Gala and Royal Gala.

RED DELICIOUS

Red Delicious is a medium sized cultivar with a long, conical body. The dark red to crimson skin colour make it the ideal red apple which has a lot of shelf appeal. There are different sports of Red Delicious including Starking, Jeromine, Red Velox and Scarlett Spur.

GOLDEN DELICIOUS

Golden Delicious is a large cultivar identified with its yellow-green skin and very sweet taste. It is prone to bruising and shrivelling which requires extra care during transport and storage. Consumers prefer this variety for salads, apple sauce and apple oil. Today, Golden Delicious is grown in all temperate growing zones. It is a lucrative cultivar for growers because it is easy to grow and keeps well long after harvest. Flavours peak when the fruit is left to mature on the tree until the skin turns golden yellow.

GRANNY SMITH

Originated in Australia, Granny Smith is a favourite cultivar across the globe with its distinctive pale green colour. The medium-to-large sized and round shaped fruit is known for its crisp, juicy flesh. This variety has a tart and acidic yet mildly sweet flavour. Granny Smith has one of the highest antioxidant activity and phenol concentration among common cultivars.

FUJI

Fuji apples can be identified with their attractive pinkish spots on a yellow-green background. The matte white flesh is dense, crisp and juicy. The seeds are clustered in the core. Fuji apples are sweet and refreshing (especially when chilled). Low in acid content, Fuji apples complement honey and citrus fruits to create a balanced sweet and tart flavour.

PINK LADY

The fruit is semi-large, oblong-cylinder shaped and light cream in color. It can be stored in a cold storage facility for a long period of time. The skin color is pink on light yellow ground. It is a variety that is very suitable for long freights. As its fruit flesh texture is hard. It can be stored in cold storage conditions for about 4- 5 months without losing its properties.

DIMENSION TABLE FOR TELESCOPIC BOXES

Fresh apples are demanded by importers not only with it’s varieties, the size
of the apples are also important in order to make the order clear along with
its packing type. Apples can be called small size or big size according to the
counts of the apples will be packed and diameter of each single apple.
The counts of the demand can change according to the country. In order to
make it clear you can find both size tables below.
Including 150 counts and more counts are called small sizes. The rest of the
counts are called big sizes. The weights and the diameters are mentioned
at the table according to the averages.

PACKING

There are two main packing types that apples can be packed. Either in
“Telescopic Boxes” and “Plastic Crates”. The packing type is determined
according to the market and country and the demand of the importer.


TELESCOPIC BOXES
Each boxes are can be net 18kg or 10kg. From 18kg boxes; 1160 boxes can
be loaded in one “40ft Hc Ref” container. The container can be load with 20
pallets with 56 boxes on each pallet and one Euro Pallet with 40 boxes.
That means each container can be loaded 20 regular and 1 euro pallet. In
addition 40 boxes of 10kg can be stacked on one regular pallet The
acceptable quality mistakes are 3% to 5% in each box. Inside of the boxes
there are viols in each layer

PLASTIC CRATES
Each crates can be packed with different weight according to the
customer’s demands. Crates can be packe 9 to 13kg. 1660 boxes can be
loaded in one “40ft Hc Ref” container. The container can be load with 20
pallets with 80 cases on each pallet and one Euro Pallet with 60 cases.
That means each container can be loaded 20 regular and 1 euro pallet.
Quality is determined according to the demand of the customer. Plastic
viols can be used or the apples can be loose in the case.
